As the Biennale's focus on regenerative and ecological practices that can refocus the discipline of architecture, the curatorial team reached out to Doe-Het-Zelf Werkplaats to construct an exhibiting sculpture from recycled bicycle frames. Atelier A16 is mobility design-research into the possibilities within the reconstruction of the former ring-road, now city-cutting highway, for wider scopes of mobility, neighborhood porosity and localized ecological networks for human and animal movement alike.

In this regard the DHZ and the mobility mobile relate to these ecologies as being an informal community lead repair cafe, upcycling material and giving a space outside of market production for makers to be creative and improvisational; an economy and ecology of low-scale production empowering bottom-up city making.

The 'wheelbarrow-bike' is made entirely from old frames. Even the seat-stays were used as part of the dis/mountable flag pole, which can be moved around and slip-fit into different configurations to fit different sized posters. The secret connection for extending the frame tubes was done via old seat posts that fit exactly inside tube frames.
